PICTOU’S NET-ZERO JOURNEY

Empowering Rural Communities & Cutting Costs

The Pictou County Net-Zero Community Buildings Project led by Navigate Energy  is breathing new life into rural community halls and centres. With over $1.3M in funding, the project is upgrading 21 community buildings with deep energy retrofits—transforming them into net-zero, resilient, and cost-saving spaces. By combining federal and provincial grants with rebates from Efficiency Nova Scotia, these upgrades are being delivered at no cost to the community owners.

The Pictou County Net-Zero Project is achieving this goal by retrofitting 21 community halls with insulation, heat pumps, solar PV, and efficiency upgrades. The result? Lower costs, zero oil use, and renewed community resiliency.

Navigate Energy partnered with ITC Atlantic and Iron Dog Mechanical to offer an affordable solution.. The result? No more propane, dramatically lower operating costs, and a modern, resilient mechanical system that provides affordable heating and cooling for year-round comfort.
